Tears of Pride...

WOW! 8750ALT took 3 teams and 2 individual competitors down to the Durango Rec Triathlon last weekend, and they may not have us back. Team Rachel Lee won the overall team catergory and our own trainer Nicole Stone-Lankes took 6th overall for the women and 2nd in her age division. Congratulations, Robin Watkinson for competing and completing your first Tri. Great Job to TD Smith for swimming you best time yet. 8750 took a camera down with us to record the event and we wanted to share it with you. If you have not signed up for the Black Canyon Tri in Montrose in October, do it now. If you are looking for team mates let us know ASAP.

The race started at the entrance to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, at the intersection of US Highway 50 and Colorado 347, east of Montrose, Colorado. The course rose steadily for the first five miles and then changed to rolling hills for the last mile, where it ended at the campground in the park. Our runners raced up a steady gain of 2000 ft. Congratulations to Judy Thompson, Warner Paige and Jim Berkovitz. Here are some fun photos of the racers at work. Courtesy of Warner.

I would go to long lengths to tell you all about how this race went but I think that this poem from Robin Watikinson says it all. Also I threw in a few photos for a good visual.

ODE TO A CRAWFISH CRAWL
All anxious we travel off to Montrose we go.
With overcast weather we all pray there's no snow.

In the pool we go PLOP with our goggles on.
The whistle then blows and in a flash we are gone.

WAIT! I forgot to take a good breath.
Too late - I just ran into Seth.

Back and forth back and forth are we almost done.
What am I thinking is has only just begun.

Quick get changed while you are wet, my bra won't go on but don't fret.
Shawn is there to save the day, on our bikes we are off, is it time to play yet?

Not quite for the traffic is near.
Just keep peddling do not sucomb to the fear.

Half way done and the c@*chie is chaffing.
Don't think about it just focus on the pavement.

Now to the run and damn the calves hurt.
Hey look everyone there's my little squirt.

Just a little bit more and it will be complete.
Thank goodness because my core hurts down to my feet.

Alas we made it and what a thrill.
Thank you Nicole for the lack of hills.

We all made it. We attained our goal.
So let's raise a glass, and say "Thank you Nicole!"
